Advertising with Google can require a considerable investment. According to the Keyword Planner tool, for example, the search term “New York dentist” attracts an average of 140 searches per month. The suggested AdWords bid for your Fax List ad to appear in search results for this keyword phrase is $18.82. This means that you will probably have to pay more than $18 for each click generated by your ad. Eighteen dollars. If your ad is clicked 100 times in a month, your AdWords tab will cost almost $1,900. Don't you think the page that each of those clicks resolves to should be optimized to get the results you're looking for? Here are the current AdWords Fax List auction winners (see screenshot) for a search for "New York Dentist." Checking the first four locations, none of them redirect to a special page. They just take the visitor to the company's homepage, which could cost those dental offices a wad of money. 1-effective-landing-pages-dentists The high bidder appears to have a landing page. By hovering over the link, however, you can see that it actually points to the homepage. Why do you need a landing page? For the purposes of this discussion, let's agree that homepages are generally places of meeting and greeting. They help visitors find the information they are looking for. Homepages are smiling and Fax List gracious hosts. They can contain multiple calls to action and multiple links. They are, in a nutshell, a “general” introduction to your business. Landing pages, however, serve a narrow purpose. They look more like traffic cops. Landing pages direct visitors down a certain path. Landing pages offer a call to action and a link. Landing pages aim to convert interest into a lead or sale.
